DAVID CAMPBELL
I grew up on the edge of a great Ocean where the Gulf Stream merges with the North Atlantic. It is deep, mysterious, soothing and restless. As an artist I am drawn to it, connected. My spirit inspired and renewed by her raw primordial beauty. It is my muse.
All of my work is handbuilt, each piece individually sculpted. I work through an intuitive process of addition and subtraction. Hands moving and modeling clay faster than my mind can conceive the object. They branch out like coral, cluster like shells and flow like fish. I create in a fluid, constant state of flux until the clay slowly dries and the sculpting draws to an end. My movements and the history of my marks on its surface now frozen in time like a petrified fossil.

The Circe Vase is a hand built original stoneware vessel with delicate frilly edges spiraling around herself like a flowing stream. Layers of clay elegantly wrap her body creating a lovely and dramatic shape. She is a true work of art from all angles.
